The DGNB System evaluates the sustainability performance of a building across six interconnected quality areas. This holistic approach ensures that environmental, economic and social aspects are considered together throughout the building’s entire life cycle.

CERTIFICATION LEVELS

The DGNB Certificate

The DGNB Certificate provides an independent and transparent assessment of a building’s sustainability performance.

Depending on the total performance index achieved, a project can receive Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze certification.

The certification is based on a comprehensive assessment of the six quality areas and their individual criteria. The exact weighting and requirements depend on the applicable DGNB system and building type.

Both DGNB and LEED are internationally recognized green building certification systems. DGNB stands out through its holistic, lifecycle- and performance-oriented approach, with a strong focus on balancing environmental, economic and sociocultural quality.
