Rooted in German Expertise. Built for Oman.

Building a Sustainable Future for Oman

NAKHLAH brings international green building expertise and the DGNB System to Oman, bridging German sustainability standards with local climate realities.

Sustainability Built for Oman

Oman’s built environment is evolving rapidly. New developments create an opportunity to go beyond conventional construction and consider how buildings will perform throughout their entire life cycle.

To bring internationally recognized sustainable building practices — with a particular focus on the DGNB System — to Oman.

How We Help You

German Quality. Greater Value

DGNB Certification

Consulting

Academy

We audit your project against DGNB sustainability criteria, taking Oman’s climate and local regulations into account. From registration and documentation to monitoring compliance and submitting evidence, we guide your team towards the targeted certification level. We coordinate with your design and construction teams to review progress, identify gaps and ensure the required evidence is complete. We also support you in addressing feedback throughout the certification review. DGNB carries out the final assessment and awards the certificate.

We help you align your building design with leading sustainability standards and DGNB certification requirements from the earliest planning stages. Working alongside your architects, engineers and project team, we review design decisions and identify practical ways to improve energy efficiency, material choices, occupant comfort and long-term performance. Our goal is to reduce operating and lifecycle costs, avoid costly changes later and establish a clear path towards your targeted certification level.

We provide practical training and workshops for architects, engineers, design teams and project managers, helping them translate sustainability principles into everyday project decisions. Our sessions introduce the DGNB System through practical examples and exercises tailored to projects in Oman. We also welcome cooperation with universities and educational institutions to develop guest lectures, joint workshops and learning programmes that connect academic knowledge with industry practice.

Process Quality

Assesses whether the building’s technical design supports durability, performance and sustainable operation. Key aspects include fire safety, building-envelope quality, building technology, maintainability, circular construction and mobility infrastructure.

Evaluates a building’s impact on the environment throughout its lifecycle. It considers climate and energy, resource consumption, water use, land use, biodiversity and impacts on the local environment.

Looks beyond initial construction costs to assess the building’s long-term economic performance. It considers lifecycle costs, adaptability, commercial viability and resilience to future changes.

Focuses on the people who live, work and spend time in the building. It evaluates health, indoor air quality, thermal and acoustic comfort, accessibility, safety, functionality and the quality of indoor and outdoor spaces.

Considers how well the building is connected to and integrated into its surroundings. It evaluates the local environment, transport accessibility and access to important amenities and services.

Evaluates how sustainability is integrated throughout planning and construction. It covers project preparation, sustainability requirements in procurement, planning procedures, construction quality assurance, commissioning and monitoring.

WHY OMAN?
Oman Is Building the Framework for Sustainability

OMAN VISION 2040

Oman Vision 2040 sets “Development of Governorates and Sustainable Cities” as a national priority, calling for smart, sustainable and vibrant cities, climate-resilient urban development and world-class sustainable infrastructure. Its environmental objectives also promote renewable energy, efficient resource use and a green and circular economy.

The Oman Building Code is introducing a dedicated Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Code (OEESC). It addresses building-envelope performance, HVAC and lighting efficiency, controls and energy use, with additional provisions covering areas such as solar readiness, EV charging, energy storage and demand-responsive controls

Through Circular BM 1208, the Central Bank of Oman has established requirements and recommendations for banks on climate risk, ESG governance, strategy, risk management and disclosure. The framework also encourages banks to develop green financing, explicitly identifying green buildings and energy-efficiency projects among eligible categories.
